Girls Basketball Shootout at EHT
was loaded with strong performances!


There were 16 games over four days, including a major victory for Sterling and another thriller between Gloucester Catholic and Bishop Eustace Prep. The Shootout was played at Egg Harbor Township High School. Read on for game summaries.

All teams listed are from New Jersey except where indicated.


Friday, February 18, 2000
5:00 Ocean City 50, St. Joseph 46
Lindsay DuRoss had 18 points, nine rebounds and five steals for the Raiders (12-9). Lauren Hickman led the Wildcats (16-6) with 14 points. Laura DiRenzo scored her 1,000th career point for St. Joe.
7:00 Egg Harbor Township 64, Camden Catholic 45
April Pashley had 12 points and three steals with Danielle Brooks getting 10 points and eight rebounds for the Eagles (11-11), who forced 34 Camden Catholic turnovers. Theresa DiMedio had 17 points and 11 rebounds for Catholic (16-4).

12:30 Bishop Eustace Prep 46, Bishop Kearney NY 45
Erica Maurer scored her 12th point from the foul line with one second left to provide the win for Eustace (18-2). Lindsey McNamara paced the Crusaders with 14 points. Katelyn Lawler had 11 and Janelle McManus 10 for Kearney (16-6).
2:15 Gloucester Catholic 56, Paramus Catholic 41
Kris Quinn had 27 points on 11-for-17 shooting to pace the Rams (18-3), who shot 54 percent from the floor. Lauren Smith led Paramus Catholic (12-10) with 10.
4:00 Sterling 65, Christ the King NY 62
Jessica Copskey had 31 points, including 12-for-12 from the line, as the Silver Knights (19-1) handed Christ the King its first loss by a New Jersey team in 10 years. Sterling shot 53 percent from the floor and rallied from a 10-point deficit at halftime. Clare Droesch had 33 points for the Royals (17-5).
5:45 Trenton Central 58, St. Dominic Academy 46
Sophomore guard Mykeema Ford had 19 points, nine steals and six assists for the Tornadoes (18-2). Kelly Kinahan had 13 for SDA (13-7), which shot 53 percent from the floor but made 29 turnovers.
7:30 Cardinal O'Hara PA 56, Holy Spirit 23
Jen Kozlowski led all scoring with 17 points for O'Hara (19-5), which opened a 20-point lead in the first quarter. Kim Ordille had 14 points for the Spartans (13-7), who hit just 19 percent of their shots and made 25 turnovers.

12:30 Mainland 45, St. Mary's MD 41
Freshman Emily Wolfe had 18 points and 16 rebounds for the Mustangs (15-5), who provided the 300th career win for Coach Karl Geisinger. Erin Holland had 10 points for St. Mary's (14-13).
2:15 Trenton Central 61, Bishop Kearney NY 61
Trenton won again, this time using 20 points by Janae Brumby and 15 points and 11 boards by Alicia Gary (19-2). Janelle McManus had 31 points and seven assists for Kearney (16-7).
4:00 Willingboro 68, Absegami 44
Kellie Rice scored 21 points for Willingboro (19-2) and Carlisha Sherman hads 13 points and 12 rebounds. Jessica Gyurics scored 13 for the Braves (17-5).
5:45 Cardinal O'Hara PA 50, Bridgeton 42
Kate Dessart Mager scored 22 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to help O'Hara (20-5) come back from a 24-20 halftime deficit. Cyndi Wilks had 25 points, 10 rebounds and six steals for the Bulldogs (15-6).
7:30 Washington Township 59, Holy Spirit 39
Jen Scaffidi had 22 points and six assists for the Minutemaids (17-4), who made 50 percent of their shots and only turned the ball over eight times. Kim Ordille had 15 points for the Spartans (13-8).

2:00 Notre Dame 76, Sacred Heart 61
Jackie Reddy had 22 and Michelle Campbell 21 for the Irish (19-2). Talia Merlino contributed seven assists as Notre Dame made 57 percent of its shots and 79 percent from the line. Trish Birmingham scored 17 for the Lions (18-5).
3:45 St. Dominic Academy 50, Ocean City 39
Sophia Vucetaj had 19 points, nine rebounds and eight blocked shots for St. Dominic (14-7). Jessica Brookes paced the Raiders (12-10) with 13 points.
5:30 Egg Harbor Township 48, Wildwood Catholic 40
Kristen Gisondi had 15 points as EHT (12-11) won its second game of the weekend. Julie McAlarnen had 17 points and four assists for the Crusaders (13-8) with Alexis Batten getting 13 points and 16 rebounds.
7:15 Gloucester Catholic 51, Bishop Eustace Prep 50
Kris Quinn made a layup with three seconds left as Gloucester Catholic (19-3) notched the win. Quinn had 25 points, four steals and four assists. Lindsey McNamara paced Eustace (18-3) with 19 points and Erica Maurer had seven assists.
