FLORIDA '85

The Young Entertainers left for Orlando on August 25th, stopping overnight in South Carolina, and stayed at The Floridian, a small but luxurious hotel across the street from Wet 'n Wild (see photos, below) and within minutes of Walt Disney World and other parks. The group returned home on September 3rd.

The group performed at Maynard Evans High School in Orlando and at Winter Park High School in Winter Park. There was also taping for a TV special at locations like the Elvis Presley Museum and Xanadu. A scheduled performance at Sea World was cancelled when a hurricane forced the park to close. During the hurricane, however, some members of the group performed in the lounge at The Floridian, filling in for the scheduled singers, who were unable to get there.

In addition to the performances, the highlights of the trip included Rich teaching everyone to break dance, Leon and Paul wrestling in the pool, the guys from the local high schools gathering in the lobby waiting for a glimpse of the nine attractive young women in our group and, of course, the visit to Wet 'n Wild.

The biggest highlight, however, came when Ruth Ann Handley accepted Brian Conover's proposal during this visit to Florida. They were married a year later.
