The 1990s was quite a decade for Ocean City High School boys soccer.

The Raiders became the first OCHS boys program to win two state championships (though both were shared) in the same decade. And they did it under two different coaches.

Bob Martin took the Raiders to a co-championship in 1995 with an all-time record of 23 wins. Then, last fall, Mike Pellegrino guided the Raiders to another co-championship and another 20-win season.

The Raiders also won two overall Cape-Atlantic League championships, four American Conference titles and six division championships during the 90s, which featured ten straight winning seasons.

There were many outstanding boys soccer players during the decade, but the best of the best is Chad Severs, the brilliant Raider junior who is already the school’s greatest scorer (96 goals) with a year to play. He was all-state twice, All-South Jersey three times and was South Jersey Player of the Year this season.

Joining Severs at forward on the All-90s Team are Brian Geary and Pat Gallagher. Geary had 45 goals and 34 assists during his career, was named All-South Jersey and a two-time all-conference selection. Gallagher, who had 17 goals and 11 assists, was also named to the all-conference team.

The midfielders were led by Pete Lambert, named twice to the second team all state, twice to the All-South Jersey team and three times all-conference. Lambert had 37 goals and a school-record 52 assists in his career.

The other midfielders are Marc Domsic, Josh Brennan and Shawn Capper. Domsic, who will graduate in June, led this year’s team with 22 assists. He was named All-South Jersey and all conference. Brennan, who played the first two years of the decade, was all conference and second team, All-South Jersey. Capper joined Severs as the only two players that led the Raiders in scoring two straight years. A transfer from Chicago, he scored 29 goals and added 16 assists in two seasons, earning all conference and second team, All-South Jersey.

The all-decade defense is led by Mike Cellini, an all conference and all state selection. He had 19 goals and 20 assists. The other fullbacks are Mike McAlarnen and Dave Tormey. McAlarnen was a two-time all-conference selection while Tormey was all conference and second team All-South Jersey.

The goalie is Tim Tormey, an all-conference selection who set school records for career wins (52) and career shutouts (33).
